Interleague Father's Play Weekend
I've got a busy weekend ahead which includes attending a wedding in Danvers (Dan-viz, if you're from these parts), so I'm not sure I'll have a chance to write much. I do hope the Sox have gotten all the losing out of their collective system and can put a few Ws on the board. It's an interleague series (the 1st in 5), so our chances are, well, uncertain. I never know how things are going to shake out.
An early "Happy Father's Day" to all you dads out there! Here's a pic of my dad before I was born. It was taken in January of 1970, 7 months before my parents "tied the knot." As you can see, my dad is probably "tying one on" in this shot (see can of Schlitz by his knee). Classic.
[Update: Per Mom's request, I put her back into the photo. I hesitated because of the whole "hand on the knee" thing. This is a family blog! Well, except for the occasional curse words. Heh, heh.]

I'll have to show you my college yearbook picture some time. Taken while your Mom was pregnant. Startling resemblance. Same 'stache and hair. LOL.

You had a mustache? I guess it was a very 1970 thing to do as examplified by all the actors and baseball players of that day. I'd love to see this yearbook pic.
And a full beard from 1977 to 1995. Started the day after I got married.
I'll have to bring it in on Monday and scan it into this computer!

Nice. Hey, is your dad mad at the beer? Or is he just pointing to it... I know you, I know you. I have a fond childhood memory of pouring my dad a glass of Schlitz full of ice - he tried to explain why you don't put ice in beer. But of course, he drank it anyway. And then smoked 4 packs of cigarettes that day. Good times. Is it actually possible to water down Schlitz?
Not to be superstitious or anything, but has anyone considered that Dave McCarthy hanging around is bad luck! Where is Jim Rice? I miss not understanding half of what he's saying whilst I'm transfixed by his tie and suit. And whatever happened to KAPOW! Sam Horn - I know Dan misses him. I guess there wouldn't be so many KAPOWS right now... and Ortiz crushes it... KAP- oh it hit a freakin light. RUN!!!!
Ilene
Jimmy was a Hottie! I like this picture VERY much!
Now I want a Schlitz...
----"that red-haired girl"
Kim, Actually Dad did not tie one on that night because he had to bring me home to Mem and Pep, so he maybe had one or two but was very good at that time, wasn't much into drinking, had a really good time that night, will never forget it. Dad is one of a kind. Love Jijaks.
Kim, I think you ought to show the whole picture of that night , cause Mom wasn't that bad herself back then.Jijaks,AKA mom.
PD - Can't wait to see the beard! I just can't picture it.
Ilene - Great memory :) I think you might be on to something re: McCahhhhty. Perhaps it's just the bad McCarty hair that's causing all of our woes. I miss Sam Horn, too. What's up with that? Also, I enjoy the rare John Valentin appearance.
Lyn - you were known simply as "the red head" to my dad. frankly, I'm jealous that you both had that in common. I wound up with his feet. And they're not good feet.
Mom - You're still good-looking, what are you talking about?! I put the rest of the pic up, but left out Ronnie and Lucille. Ronny's hair and vampire teeth might scare people.
Also, I just realized that my dad is doing that "one eyebrow up, one eyebrow down" thing. He was very accomplished at that look.
Nick says your Mom is a MILF.
i
Mom, what Ilene is saying is that her husband agrees that you are a good looking lady.
Ilene - Tell Nick that this blog is rated PG13.
um...Ilene likes to get me in trouble, she actually told me she was going to post a comment, I did not actually say MILF and would never say anything to disrespect your mom or your site, which I read at least once a day. I hope no harm was caused and my sincerest apologies.
But really...your mom is hot.
Nick
BD,
You are going to be disappointed now. Bad memory: no mustache in that photo, and we put the last of the pics with beard in storage yesterday morning, but at least we rescued the yearbook Friday night before it went too.
And at least you restored Hot Mom, I mean jijax, to your photo. Alas, I had no hottie in the picture beside me, so there is no one to cut out in the photo I will scan tomorrow.
